ON THE ROAD AGAIN!

Well Dennis is on the road again, on his way to Ft. Myers, and then Hoggetowne, Florida. He got a late start. There was so much work to be done on the trailer. It took us 2 full days to clean it. Plus we weren’t expecting the trailer to be in Ohio last month so we hadn’t winterized it, so of course, the pipes froze. But Dennis being the handyman he is, fixed everything. Now it looks almost as good as he does.

Keith and Gabby, friends of ours from California, will be in the booth with Dennis (who is sporting a new look) so stop in and say “hi”. They are great people.

Happy New Year!!!

HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Wishing all of you a wonderful, healthy, and prosperous year in 2009.
Well we had an interesting end of 2008. Just to keep you all up to date, we had some people working for us but it didn’t work out so Dennis is going back out on the road till he can find replacements, so he went down to Florida (in my little car because his truck was totaled by a train – will explain later) to do the Pirates in Paradise event. We love that event. It’s small but probably the most authentic we’ve seen. It’s at Ft. Taylor in Key West Florida. Well anyway Dennis had a blast there, made new friends and won an award for being such a wonderful vendor. I’m so proud of him.
Now to explain the truck, Dennis and Triston were hunting and the truck was parked by the tracks when another hunter wanted to get by, so Dennis did the backup, go forward, backup thing to turn around and get out of his way and on one of the backups the trailer hitch got stuck on the track. They called 911 to let them know the situation and to also let them know that the truck was empty. They tried everything to get the truck off the track but according to the police it takes 2 miles to stop a train and they only had 1-1/2 miles so BAM!! Triston said it was lifted several feet in the air. I thought things like this only happened in the movies but surprisingly it happens quite often. Nobody was hurt, but the train driver was shaken up. 911 forgot to tell the train conductor that the truck was empty so the poor guy thought he killed someone. They had to take that driver off the train and put a new one on since he was so shaken.

The Move

Sorry we have been away for so long. We are almost settled into our new home (we only have a couple of dozen of boxes to finish). We recently moved to Ashtabula, Ohio (Dennis is originally from Pennsylvania and Denise from Michigan) where we have a 3 bedroom house. It’s beautiful with hard wood floors with a 2 car garage (currently being used as our shop and brewery).

We have custody of the kids now. They were old enough to say where they wanted to live, so here they are with us. They are loving their new schools, are getting good grades, making friends and enjoying the changing seasons. School was canceled today due to snow, so they stayed home and Triston went deer hunting with Dennis. Dennis and I are enjoying having them here all the time. I have never seen Dennis happier.

The dogs are having a ball playing in our big back yard. They are even having fun in the snow. I usually stay inside. They look so cute in their winter coats.

We have a couple of new people working for us named Shawn and Sarah. You may see them at some of the fairs since Dennis is trying to stay home more to be a bigger part of our kids lives. Shawn has leather experience and Sarah has a sales background. He’s t all with dark hair and a beard. She is short, blonde and bubbly.

Stop in and say “hi” if you see them.

That is all for now - until next time - Have a very Merry Christmas!

Koronaburg Old World Festival

Corona, CA. May 10th - June 15, 2008

medieval fair koronaburg, corona california

Yes it was an exciting weekend. Saturday, there were too fires in the nearby lots (not on site). CDF saved the day – I had never seen the planes drop on a fire before. We forgot a couple of boxes in Las Vegas, so Steven and Erich drove to Barstow with the boxes and I met them there to get them. Saturday was also a late night faire and those are always fun. Sunday was relatively slow (probably because the police incorrectly told everyone Saturday that we would be closed all weekend). Saw some of our friends and I got an early mother’s day gift from Tina from Hush Parties. Let’s put it this way, I’ll fit in better at the Palm Springs Festival next year. Thank you Tina!!

There were lots of new babies there this weekend. So cute and adorable. I just love chipmunk cheeks and toes.

Our friend Coy was too ill to come to faire, but he’s doing better now. Dennis got sick just after faire, and then I got sick too. At first I thought it was allergies but since we both got sick I realized it was more. Still can’t breathe through my nose but I am feeling better.

Dennis and a couple of his friends went to Lake Mead Thursday and Friday to have a couple of days off and relax. Storing up for the upcoming events such as Koronaburg.

Live from Medieval Fair of Norman

Stories from around the tent

Norman Medieval Fair - Oklahoma“Stories, salutations and highlights from around the merchant tent of “Magic Creations Leather Boots” and RegalBoots.com - creators of world class, custom, Italian leather boots, baldrics, vambraces, belts, manacles and accessories. “

So here we are in Norman, Oklahoma, having a GREAT time. Seeing old friends (Pipers Pub, vendors and repeat customers - Link and Judy) and meeting new ones (K and Laramy).

We were at the same spot again this year, right across from Piper’s Pub (the fun rowdy bunch who make their own soft drinks, loved the Wizzard’s wine (no alcohol) and the hugs) Andre, I love the pants. Saw a lot of people who bought from us last year and came this year to say “hi” and see what else we had that they couldn’t live without. We greatly appreciate all of you repeat customers.

The weather was great this year, no tornados this time. It was a little cold Friday but it warmed up nicely.

Had a great time at the restaurant across the street from the hotel we stayed at. The waiter was a blast. Gave Dennis a hard time, so of course we went there twice. The hotel was nice too. We stayed an extra day just to relax.

Medieval Fair of Norman

Norman Oklahoma

32nd Annual - April 4-6th, 2008

Crossroads Palm Springs Old World Renaissance Festival“The Medieval Fair of Norman was the first medieval or renaissance fair in the state and is one of a few FREE medieval fairs in the nation!”

For thirty two years

the Norman Medieval Fair in Oklahoma has been entertaining the masses from across the nation. As the first Renaissance Festival in Oklahoma, it not carries with it all the extravagence youi would expect in such a grand festival.

The medieval fair has grown so large that its reputation stretched far beyond its boundries and even reached the columned halls of Cair Paravel, the home of High King Peter the Magnificent, Queen Susan the Gentle, King Edmund the Just and Queen Lucy the Valiant. King Peter, hearing of such a festival sent his most trusted emissary the Great Faun of the Northern Woods to visit and report back of the grandeur of the celebration.

It has been rumoured that after that visit and joyous report of their most trusted Faun Ambassador, High King Peter dedicated a yearly event in like fashion known throught all of Narnia as “King Norman the Joyous Medieval Festival” named after King Norman whom they presumed was the originator of such a grand occasion.

We look forward to seeing you there - stop by and say “Huzzah!” We wil treat you like the royalty that you are.

Crossroads Palm Springs Old World Renaissance Festival"Step into a 1450-1600 European Village where villagers celebrate the arrival of Spring, The merchants setup their shops to sell their wares, the entertainers gather to perform for nobel and peasant alike."

Buon Giorno,
This is our first of many renaissance blogs. My wife Denise and I (Dennis "Magic" Miller) are very excited to share with you what we will be up to at the end of the month. By the way, the picture is not me. He was at last year’s event. I am the Italian looking guy on "About Us" page of our web site, and the beautiful maiden with me is my wife.

The end of March brings one of the biggest Renaissance Faire events on the west coast. In just five days we will be in beautiful Palm Springs for the "Crossroads Old World Renaissance Festival" with our booth full of great, quality leather products and our Italian Flag flying high.

Denise and I will be there in all our regalia welcoming guests to our humble hut, and we will be taking pictures of any participants who would like us to feature them in our gallery of renaissance faire photos.

This year looks like it is going to top all the years past with more Magic Shows, Juggling, Storytellers, Stage Performances and hundreds of customed street performers along with interactive encampments.

And if that isn’t enough, there is going to be the most delectable foods and drink available - fit for a king!

We look forward to seeing you there - stop by and say "Huzzah!" We will treat you like the royalty that you are.
